Hosted by Renee Castellano
Bouldering is climbing without ropes over thick mats, so it's a low-stakes way to start. Renee will teach you how to fall safely, read a route by its colored holds, and use your legs more than your arms. No experience needed and most people surprise themselves.
A share of every intro session funds the gym's program that trains local teens to set routes and earn a first paycheck. What's included
- Climbing shoe and chalk rental
- Falling and safety basics
- A guided run through three beginner routes
Plan
Comfortable workout clothes and socks. Shoes are provided.
Listen to the falling safety brief before you climb.
Part of your fee supports a paid route-setting apprenticeship for neighborhood teens.

Renee made the scary part feel manageable. I booked again for next week.

Great intro. The gym gets busy at peak hours so the morning slot is calmer.

Solid coaching though I'd have liked a smaller group.
